NATM2 + Frat Pack Friend Sighting
First off, I was at Ethan Coen’s off-Broadway play over the weekend and Adam Scott (Step Brothers, Party Down) was in the audience. I recognized him immediately and could totally hear his distinctive laugh throughout the show.
Secondly, last night I was invited to a preview screening of Night at the Museum 2: Battle of the Smithsonian at the Natural History Museum. I was pretty cool to be in the building that part of the movie was set in.
My expectations for the movie were minimal — I enjoyed the first one but it’s definitely aimed at a family audience. But I try to support Ben Stiller’ work and any excuse to watch Steve Coogan can’t be all that bad. Plus Amy Adams is radiant in everything she does. The exchange between Stiller and Jonah Hill that is previewed in the trailer made me laugh out loud. In fact I think one of the best things about this PG rated film is seeing Stiller and his Frat Pack friends be funny while still managing to keep it clean.
The plot is predictably silly, but relocating the action to the Smithsonian provides for some great backdrops and there are some clever moments with “living” paintings. While this movie might not be for everyone, I did make me chuckle quite a bit.
