‘Get Smart 2′ Filming May 2010, Carell Writing Script

Steve Carell’s window for Anchorman 2 keeps getting smaller. Hollywood Reporter reveals that Carell and Anne Hathaway have scheduled Get Smart 2 for filming in May 2010. Carell will also be working on the script; he (and Office co-star BJ Novak) previously had an uncredited re-write on the first installment. Assuming he receives a writing credit this time around, this will be his first motion picture screenplay since 2005’s The 40 Year-Old Virgin.
What that means for Anchorman 2 is unclear. We know this much: Carell goes back to work on Office Season 6 next month and films Dinner for Schmucks with Paul Rudd during an Office filming break this fall. So unless Ferrell & Co can squeeze Anchorman 2 filming in Fall 2010, it looks like Brick Tamland is booked into next decade.
