Ben Stiller’s Wal-Mart Role

I don’t know if I should applaud Ben Stiller for taking what must be pretty easy money (and, presumably, a whole lot of money) as the host of Wal-Mart’s recent shareholders meeting, or to shake my head in disgust. Stiller was the host on Friday of the big-box chain’s 39th annual shareholders meeting in Fayetteville, AK.  The meeting was held in a 20,000 seat arena and Ben played host for the event.

Stiller opened the meeting that started at 7 am with a joke that the attendees appreciated, ”Target is still sleeping.”  Comic videos and other jokes followed, including a bit where the ex-Derek Zoolander taught Wal-Mart CFO Tom Schoewe and American Idol Kris Allen how to be a male model.

What do you think of this gig from the “comic voice of his generation?”  Is this a good thing, or a bad thing?
