Hill, Reilly Quietly Finish New Indie Dramedy

Jonah Hill recently wrapped filming a untitled indie comedy directed by Jay and Mark Duplass, best known as the brother duo who create a type of film known as “mumblecore”, a documentary style of narrative film making. Joining him ar part of the cast is Marissa Tomei and fellow Frat Pack friend John C. Reilly.
According to /film.com, the film Reilly and Tomei’s characters fleetingly date until “one day he finds out about Hill, the grown son she hadn’t yet revealed”. According to director Mark Duplass, what follows is “a very bizarre, codependent relationship. It almost develops into some obtuse love triangle, as John and Jonah wrestle for the feelings of Marisa.”
Normally the Duplass Brothers work primarily with amateur actors, so this departure is strikingly different to their previous efforts. However, as each of their films have relied heavily on improvised dialogue from its actors, it seems Hill and Reilly perfectly fit the mold. In fact, Mark said of Hill, “He came in there and he was vulnerable and no ego and fucking hilarious and prepared things, and we’re improvising, so the shit he’s coming up with on the spot, I never could come up with on my own. He’s humble. He’s got it.”
The film will be released by Fox Searchlight and should see release sometime next year.

Reilly vs. Hill should be great! Reilly was excellent in the similarly themed The Promotion.
