Lance Amstrong “Blames” Ben Stiller for Tour Fine

Champion cyclist and occasional Frat Pack cameo player Lance Armstrong and his Astana team were fined for arriving late for the pre-stage registration yesterday in Marseille, France. Rules state that riders must show up 20 minutes prior to the start or face a fine of 100 Swiss Francs ($92). Armstrong’s team protested the fine as a nuisance, but later blamed the series of events on Dodgeball buddy Ben Stiller.

Armstrong sent this Twitter message: “Btw, sorry we were late for the sign on this am. It was Stiller’s fault!!”. Of course, the “blame” was only in jest. Later, he Twittered this photo and indicated he was in discussions for a Dodgeball sequel which the Tour champion characterized as “could be huge.”

There have been talks of an Armstrong biopic, and reporters asked Ben Stiller if he was in the running for the role. According to published reports, Stiller tapped Matt Damon as the actor in the lead to play the cyclist.

Later, Stiller hung out with his friend and responded to questions from reports by saying “I tried to give him some pointers but I don’t think I was really helpful.”  Armstrong later posted this video to his website:
