According to Entertainment Weekly, Cameron Diaz is in talks to join the cast of The Green Hornet. Diaz would be playing the female lead, opposite writer and star Seth Rogen who has been shepherding the movie for several years. The film is cowritten by Rogen’s writing partner Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express) and is┬ádirected by Michel Gondry (Be Kind Rewind).┬áThe film as a July 9, 2010 release date, so filming should be starting very soon.

The Green Hornet originated on radio in the 1930s before coming to comics in the 1940s and to television in the 1960s. The series famously costarred Bruce Lee as Green Hornet’s sidekick Kato. Stephen Chow has been tapped to play Kato in the upcoming film version.

Diaz is among the highest-paid actresses and is familiar to Frat Pack fans with her roles opposite Ben Stiller (There’s Something About Mary), Luke Wilson (Charlie’s Angels), and (briefly) Jack Black (The Holiday).
