Ferrell to Write and Produce New Jon Heder Sitcom
Will Ferrell’s Gary Sanchez Productions has secured a potentially lucrative deal with Comedy Central for a new sitcom that will star his Blades of Glory co-star Jon Heder. The still-untitled multicamera sitcom will star Heder as “an out-of-work IT specialist who leaves the city and returns to his small hometown to live with his parents and younger brother.”
Comedy Central has ordered 10 episodes to be written by the Gary Sanchez team of Ferrell, Adam McKay and Chris Henchy. Should the series perform well enough, 90 episodes will immediately be picked up, with Comedy Central getting first option to air new episodes. This first-run syndication deal is a luxury not offered to major-network series, and follows the model set by Tyler Perry’s TBS sitcoms. All principals involved are receiving backend deals instead of salary, which could be hugely profitable once the series moves to syndication.
Next up for Gary Sanchez Productions is next month’s Jeremy Piven comedy The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, and production for HBO’s Eastbound and Down Season 2 with Danny McBride is expected to resume early next year.

I thought Heder held his end up quite well in Blades of Glory; it’s a shame we haven’t seen more of him. Maybe this series is a start… Gary Sanchez has a pretty good track record so far.
Loved all the Jon Heder Movies… He is really really funny. I am excited to see what he can do on a TV Series.
