Scary October with John C. Reilly in ‘The Vampire’s Assistant’
How are those Halloween plans coming along? Yes, we know it’s July but it is never too early to start planning for a new movie from Frat Pack friend John C. Reilly. Today we received a note that his upcoming movie had a new title as well as a release date. The Vampire’s Assistant (formerly titled Cirque Du Freak) will now be released on Friday, October 23, 2009. The film is directed by Paul Weitz (In Good Company and in talks for Little Fockers).
The Vampire’s Assistant tells the frightening tale of a boy who unknowingly breaks a 200-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires. Pulled into a fantastic life of misunderstood sideshow freaks and grotesque creatures of the night, one teen will vanish from the safety of a boring existence and fulfill his destiny in a place drawn from nightmares.
14-year-old Darren (Chris Massoglia) was like most kids in his suburban neighborhood. He hung out with his best friend, got decent grades and usually stayed out of trouble. But when he and his buddy stumble upon a traveling freak show, things begin to change inside Darren. That’s the exact moment when a vampire named Larten Crepsley (John C. Reilly) turns him into something, well, bloodthirsty.

hi im quite annoyed that Debbie was replaced by a character called Rebecca, it should be the original character and further more Debbie is black and Rebecca is white, a little bit of racism isn’t there?
I hope this film does terrible, and I agree with peter! Im super p**sed that they changed debbies character, and made cormac limbs into corma? what? ugh.
Ive been boycotting this movie You can see the cat girl that replaced Debbie, inter species is chosen over interracial, the film makers are pathetic.
