Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Robert Downey Jr. will be costarring with Zach Galifianakis in Todd Phillips’ next film, Due Date. Filming could start as early as this fall, though the film is not officially greenlit according to EW. The film is expected to bridge the gap before The Hangover 2 films next year. The road movie centers on an expectant father (Downey) who travels with a friend (Galifanakis) before his child is born. Due Date was written by Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland, with a revision by Adam Sztykiel.

Downey has Sherlock Holmes lined up for later this year and has completed filming Iron Man 2 for director Jon Favreau. Downey is also doing voice work in 2010 release Oobermind, opposite Tina Fey and Tropic Thunder costar Ben Stiller.
