Judd Apatow

Are you gearing up for Friday’s big comedy opening, Funny People? You know that we are here in Fratville.

Funny People Podcast / iTunes

If you’d like to learn more about the movie you definitely should check out director Judd Apatow’s Funny People podcast. The series features behind the scenes footage, interviews with Apatow and the cast, plus highlights from the movie. This week’s podcast episode features Judd’s wife, Leslie Mann.

iTunes now has an entire Funny People room! The Room features Judd Apatow’s free podcast, Judd’s Celebrity Playlist and other Apatow/Funny People -related films and more.  Also, check out Apatow’s eyes in the podcast. Kind of “glassy” if you know what I mean…

MTV Blog

Also worth checking out is Judd Apatow’s MTV blog. Some interesting slices of life including sharing a flight with Kevin Nealon (still excellent on Weeds by the way). But the blog does have a serious side.

I get very nervous before a film comes out. You spend several years working on it, and then the verdict comes in instantaneously. So right now I feel like the verdict is about to come in. My lawyer has told me it looks good. Seems like we may be acquitted, but you never know how a jury is going to react.

So I guess this will be a movie that will start many long conversations. That was the point when I wrote it but watching those conversations about to begin is scary. I want the movie to stay with people. To make them take a moment to think about some issues they avoid most days, but I also want it to make people happy. It is hard to do that in one movie but so far people seem to really like it.

If you like my film tell me in great detail what you liked about it, and if you don’t, please lie and tell me in even more detail what you loved about it so I believe your lie. Please don’t ask me what I am up to next. That’s a dead giveaway. I don’t think I could handle it.

Don’t worry, Judd. We’ll tell you exactly why we like, or don’t like, about Funny People when it opens in theatres nationwide this Friday.
