Is Kristen Wiig the new SNL Weekend Update Anchor? (Updated)
It’s no secret that Kristen Wiig has quickly become SNL’s star player, so the recent scoop that she will be Seth Meyers’ new co-anchor makes sense.
We’re big fans of Wiig’s hilarious work on SNL, in addition to great work in Knocked Up, Walk Hard, Semi-Pro and the Forgetting Sarah Marshall DVD. However, with Wiig being in virtually every SNL sketch (maybe the most for any castmember since Will Ferrell), she is at risk of overexposure. Still, her recent Emmy nomination for the show is well-deserved and she has always brought the funny.
What are your thoughts?

Well, with Amy Poehler’s departure, Wiig is certainly the standout performer on the show. Personally, I think she’d have great chemistry with Bill Hader on Weekend Update, but with Seth Meyers entrenched, it is going to be hard to get him out of the chair.

I don’t like it. Just because someone is good at skits does not mean they should be the anchor. Usually people who arent good as skits are the better choices for anchors.
