Will Ferrell as George W. Bush

Will Ferrell and Adam McKay did not win either of their two Emmy nominations for Will Ferrell: You’re Welcome America: A Final Evening with George W. Bush at this Saturday’s Creative Arts Primetime Emmys. Their HBO special was nominated for Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Special and writing in that same field. They lost to The Kennedy Center Honors in the Variety Special category and Chris Rock for writing.

Will Ferrell was previously nominated for playing George W. Bush on Saturday Night Live back in 2001. In a bit of irony, while Ferrell did not win for playing Bush, tonight Tina Fey won an Emmy for playing Sarah Palin on SNL in the Guest Actress in a Comedy category (SNL scored another win for Justin Timberlake  in the Guest Comedy Actor category.)

The remaining televised Primetime Emmy categories will be handed out next Sunday, September 20th.
