Looks like this week’s episode of the The Simpsons may prove to be a preview of Seth Rogen’s 2010 superhero film, The Green Hornet. Rogen wrote the episode along with frequent writing partner Evan Goldberg (Superbad, Pineapple Express) and the the episode’s storyline is familiar to fans of the actor.

In “Homer the Whopper,” Rogen plays a trainer named Lyle McCarthy assigned to get Homer Simpson in superhero shape to play Everyman, a hero created by Comic Book Guy and played by the rotund couch potato. Rogen commented:

“We wanted to comment on how Hollywood generally ruins these movies. The whole joke is Homer is cast to play a guy who’s an everyman and they try to make him into this physically fit guy. It was completely surreal. I was just in shock afterward. I felt like I had gone skydiving or survived an earthquake”

Of course, Rogen himself is no stranger to slimming down for a role as a superhero. In fact, Rogen’s weight loss for The Green Hornet as early as last summer allowed jokes about it to be inserted into this summer’s Funny People.
