‘Date Night’ Preview with Carell and Fey

Steve Carell
Steve Carell’s next star turn is coming in 2010 in the form of Date Night from director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum). Costarring Tina Fey and a host of interesting supporting players, Date Night is starting to build buzz. USA Today has an extensive look at the film, including the promo photo shown below.
Also appearing in Date Night at Kristen Wiig and Mark Ruffalo who play a couple who are divorcing. This, presumably, is what sets a bored couple’s “Date Night” into motion, where eventually Carell and Fey will run into characters played by Mila Kunis, Mark Wahlberg, Ray Liotta, and Leighton Meester. The participation of Wahlberg is interesting since he’s signed to costar in The Other Guys with Will Ferrell; expect to see Downey-style “are you in the Frat Pack” questions from interviewers next year.
As a couple on the run, expect to see Carell return to the bicker/love formula that worked so well for him in Get Smart.
“They’re an average couple with a nice house and a seemingly nice life,” Carell says. “And for all intents and purposes, it is. Ultimately, it’s there for them to discover that it is. But like anything, you get used to patterns and the sameness of things and lose a perspective on your life.”
He turns to Fey with a chagrined expression. “And that sounds like the funniest movie in the world,”
Date Night is scheduled for release in April 2010.
