iFreak Tops Class of Movie Promo Apps

I’ve got to admit I’m pretty freaking tired of vampires right about now. As such, I’d probably have zero interest in this month’s Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant if not for the present of Frat Pack friend and all-around excellent actor John C. Reilly. Though, truth be hold, this film does seem to have a non-romantic edge that is so tiresome with other vampire projects of late.

To promote the film, a new app is available for iPhone and iPod Touch users. iFreak combines elements common to the promo app genre, including info about the film and link to a trailer. What sets this app apart is that is, you know, actually kind of fun and useful.

The iFreak app allows you to turn yourself and your friends into one of the many freaks featured in the film!

Use the app to take a photo (or select one from your album) and transform into the bearded lady Madame Truska, Loafhead, Gertha Teeth, Mr. Tiny, Mr. Tall, Wolfman, Rhamus Two-Bellies, Evra Von, and Larten Crepsley. You can even mix and match characters and add endless features until you are completely satisfied. If you change your mind, just double-tap a feature and it will disappear.

Once you’re a freak both inside and out, you can give it a name, save it to your iPhone, email, or share your new identity on Facebook. Your friends will never look at you the same again! iFreak is Free in the Apple App Store.

As you can see, I had a lot of fun creating iFreak images featuring my son Riley  plus a couple familiar faces…

This app is definitely better than another free app available to promote Couples Retreat. Along with the requisite photos and trailer content, here’s the official description of the Free Couples Retreat Translator app.

Have you ever heard your girlfriend say “I’m fine”, but thought that maybe she really ISN’T fine?  Maybe your husband SAID “I remember”, but you suspect that he doesn’t. Sometimes people don’t always say what they mean.  Even more confusing are the numerous ways that they say the same words and phrases, expecting you to interpret what their true intention is.

That’s where the Couples Retreat Couples Translator comes in.  This ingenious device will improve your relationship skills by helping you understand the pesky nuances of couples communication!

  • Browse hundreds of translations, type in your own original phrase to translate, or shake your iPhone for a random result.
  • Categories include: Dating, Activities, Entertainment, Family, Marriage, Love, Sex, Thoughts, Feelings, Work and Money.
  • Results include audio and text translations

You can also sample these important interpretations using your SMS text compatible phone or mobile device.  All you have to do is text TRANSLATE to 834567 (UFILMS).

Great idea in theory but the AI isn’t great, often not providing any translation for common phrases like “I’m hungry” and lame canned responses “She said: ‘Let’s grab a quick bite’, She Meant: ‘Let’s sit down for a four course meal’”  Not too clever.

Still, for a free app it might be worth what you pay for it.
