When it was initially announced that James Franco, movie star, was joining the cast of ABC soap General Hospital for an extended guest run we all thought perhaps Franco had smoked a little too much of that ‘pineapple express.’  Now, Movieline has details of why Franco is participating and we also have a preview of Franco’s appearance.

Movieline spoke with Carter, a sometime collaborator with James Franco. The artist mentioned the GH gig is part of another project.

It was an idea that I posted to him, and it’s tied to another film that he and I are working on now. It’s a feature film that’s gonna be pretty abstract, for a larger audience.

Further, cryptic, details are available in the interview. But, okay, we get the gist. Movie within a movie stuff. Okay. Cool.
