Luke Wilson in ‘Death at a Funeral’ Trailer

It’s nice to see Luke Wilson doing what he’s normally paid to do, and that is acting in movies. Moreover, this is a movie that looks like it’ll actually be released. In theatres. On time. With a wide release.

Death at a Funeral is a remake of 2007 British dark comedy from director Frank Oz. The new, Americanized version directed by Neil LaBute stars Chris Rock, Martin Lawrence, Tracy Morgan, Danny Glover, James Marsden, Zoe Saldana, and Peter Dinklage (reprising his role from the original version). Wilson seems to playing an ex of Saldana in what looks be a supporting turn in an ensemble comedy. Wilson previously costarred with Martin Lawrence in Blue Streak back in 1999.

Death at a Funeral is scheduled for release on April 16, 2010.

In other Luke Wilson news, there’s a MySpace page for Middle Men, another Wilson flick stuck in release-purgatory.

    Luke’s looking… puffy.

Really like this cast though. Seems like it’ll be funny

Let’s see, by my count they managed to insult asian people, white people, little people, gays, and probably animals too - and that’s just in the trailer. I can’t see how this WON’T cause all kinds of multitple, simultaneous protests and calls to ban it…

I hear what you’re saying, Mario… but do films starring largely African-American casts ever have those sort of protests? Just sayin…

That said, none of those topics particularly were noticed by me. I was just thinking “this looks funny.” And, yes, maybe AT&T can pay for a personal trainer so Luke can lose the extra 30 pounds he’s been carrying for the last couple years.

Why is anyone even remaking this movie? It’s only from 2007 and the trailer has almost all of the same jokes from the original. Doesn’t make much sense to me.

    Jacob,
I guess you’re not familiar with the TV show that Steve Carell stars on.

We may have to agree to disagree but I’d watch Chris Rock in the lead in over whoever it was who starred in the British version. Unless the British lead is Hugh Grant it’s a tough sell in the American market (see: Pirate Radio)

I gotta say, this looks God-awful. Luke would be the only draw for me. I like Rock and Morgan up to a certain point, but not really my bag.

I haven’t seen the original version, but I’m more interested in seeing that than this. I hope it does well for Luke’s sake though.

I love the movie death at funeral, so while watching the preview for this remake i found parts funny because i took what happened and remembered the original version and how funny it was. but you can not compare it. James marsden does not come close to the performance Alan tudyk does, nor does luke wilson compared to his counter-part, though i love him (and thought i might like it because he’s in it. but he would have been better as james marsden’s character)
though; i love danny glover, and peter dinklage, peter’s performance from what i saw was like “yep been here before.”
the insults aren’t in poor taste, listen to any stand up comic and those type of jokes are there. you have to be able to take the a stereotypes about people and just realize they are actually there to some degree. people just need to be less politically correct (which is a joke now a days) and get a better sense of humour
