Funny or Die Comes to HBO; Drunk History Wins Sundance Award

Will Ferrell
Will Ferrell and Adam McKay will continue their relationship with HBO in February when their website Funny or Die becomes a sketch TV series on HBO. Funny or Die Presents will air Friday nights at Midnight starting on February 19. Ferrell and McKay have previously produced the George W. Bush comedy special and the series Eastbound and Down for HBO.
The FOD series is basically what you’d expect it to be, which is to say it is a non-interactive version of the Funny or Die website. It does appear that some material will air first on the show, rather than appearing on the site first. This will likely generate buzz and based on the trailer shown below there’s certainly a plethora of comedic talent at hand for these segments.
Among those segments is an upcoming Drunk History segment starring Ferrell and Don Cheadle. That segment, Drunk History: Douglass & Lincoln (Directed By: Jeremy Konner, Screenwriter: Derek Waters), recently won the Jury Prize in US Short Filmmaking at Sundance.
Here’s the trailer for the series, including a peek into the Drunk History clip.
