New Version of “We Are the World” Features… Vince Vaughn? (Updated x2)
Perhaps Quincy Jones and the producers of the new version of “We Are the World” have a sense of humor. The 80’s song was remade after the Grammy’s today in order to raise money for Haiti relief. In addition to musical stars, who else was spotted entering the studio? Vince Vaughn.
Vince Vaughn?
If Vaughn is famous for singing it was only during off-key renditions of “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” at Wrigley Field or more style than substance in Vince Vaughn’s Wild West Comedy Show. But real singing? I don’t know…
Perhaps Vince’s appearance is a homage to the head-scratching inclusion of comedian Dan Ackroyd on the original track. Ackroyd did have several successful Blues Brothers albums to his credit, however.
I’m sure we’ll know more soon. In the meantime I guess it’s all for a good cause.

Vaughn talked to MTV about his participation:
“Honestly, for me, I felt very grateful to be included and unfortunately sometimes it takes these kinds of things to bring people together,” he explained. “But I think the great thing, and I’m very happy to be an actor, but music is the highest art form. Music can take you the farthest, the fastest emotionally in the quickest time.

That’s the first remark that came to mind: “Oh great. Vince is the Aykroyd in this thing”
I didn’t know Ackroyd was in the first one. But he’s part of the Blues Brothers. Vince’s “duet” with Dwight in WWCS does not qualify. Quincy does have an ear for music though, perhaps he felt he needed Vince’s Yul Brynner style vocals to assist in the chorus…surrounded by a bunch of professional singers.

I know they are in time crunch.. they need the song out there for the winter olympics.. but still Vince Vaughn!!! Common”’??!!! They guy can’t sing!!! Where the other great artist? Beyonce, Taylor swift.. What about the country singer??? Reba?
If they can have Vince Vaughn there, then why can’t they have the other great singers there too.

Look at the original version.. It was epic! Amazing voices and artist!
I’m surprised they didn’t go for Jack Black
And Will Ferrell ain’t half bad as a singer, too. Still don’t get the Vince thing, unless Dwight Yoakim was pulling the strings.
I’m sure had Dwight been involved he would’ve been there.
