‘Tenure’ Coming to Blockbuster DVD Feb 19, Nationally in April
It is with mixed emotions that I report that Luke Wilson’s highly anticipated college rom-com Tenure will be available on home video starting on February 19th exclusively at Blockbuster locations. A national release will follow on April 13, according to Blockbuster’s website and internet chatter. David Koechner (Anchorman) and Gretchen Mol (The Ten) also star in the film written and directed by Mike Million.
Here is the official synopsis:
A college professor competes for tenure with a hot-shot female colleague. It’s time for a major mid-term crisis in this darkly humorous and thoughtful comedy. Professor Charlie Thurber (Luke Wilson) loves to teach but can’t stand all the expected publishing and politicking that goes along with the position. So when his opportunity for tenure is announced, he goes out on a limb to prove his worth, but unexpectedly finds himself falling for the very person who might replace him. It’s a battle of the brains where the stakes are high and only one person can get an “A” for effort.
I’m really eager to see this movie, though obviously disappointed that this will be known as a “straight to video” release. The film had received good notices at some film festivals this past fall.
Compare the DVD cover (left) art with that of the theatrical poster. Talk about a crappy Photoshop job…
