Owen Wilson Set for Film with Woody… Allen

If you have “Owen” and “Woody” in the same sentence, the mind naturally races to bizarre stories of Owen Wilson and longtime bud Woody Harrelson. Today, however, the Woody we’re talking about is director Woody Allen. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Owen has signed for Woody’s next film, to be shot this summer for a 2011 release. As is often the case with Allen’s recent films, there are no advanced details of the title or plot. It’s also unclear how big Wilson’s role in the film may be.
Frat Pack fans may recall Will Ferrell co-starred in Allen’s 2004 bomb, Melinda and Melinda. That film also featured Steve Carell in a small role as Ferrell’s best friend.
So my love of Owen is going to make me watch more than 10 minutes of a Woody Allen movie! Good thing I have a year to get prepared for the task
Any pointers on what I should do to prepare? Like poke myself with needles for 2 hours, wash my eyes out with bleach…. I know, I know….my bad!
Personally speaking I’d rather this to have been about Woody Harrelson. At least then I’d know it wouldn’t have been dull and it’d have put a smile on my face

Short of Owen working with Scorsese, this is the best, most exciting and surprising piece of casting news I will ever hear. I love Woody Allen, be it early, middle period or late Woody Allen, his batting average is still remarkably high, especially at the rate of a movie a year.
I think Woody Allen can get something really special out of Owen… Not just in terms of performance, but maybe as an inspiration to write again, maybe even direct. I’m loving this.
