MTV is confirming this week’s scoop by Nikki Finke about Ben Stiller working on Zoolander 2.  Now they have Stiller dishing details on what might be ahead in the sequel, which is currently being written:

  • The script would focus on how the fashion industry has changed since the first film.
  • Derek and Hansel (Owen Wilson) have now been forgotten, thus the script would follow how they cope with their current reality.
  • Mugatu will return if Will Ferrell agrees. Stiller feels Mugatu is one of the “classic screen villains of all time.”
  • Original Zoolander co-writer John Hamburg (director of I Love You, Man and Along Came Polly) and Nick Stoller (director of Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him to the Greek) have also written previous drafts for the sequel, both with idea that will contribute to the current script being written by Stiller and Justin Theroux.

What’s the over/under on Ferrell returning? I think odds are looong for his return.

if anyone can convince him to return it has to be Stiller. even if its just a cameo to see where he’s at i’ll be happy!

I could see Ferrell agreeing to a “Big Earl”-type cameo. One day & done.

I would hope he would come back out of appreciation for what the film did for his career but I get that feeling that unless his movie this summer bombs he won’t agree to come onboard. I hope I’m wrong about him though.

Can we get Vaughn back as well with a more beefed up role as Zoolander’s brother?

I know right, let’s see Vince a lot more in this one… Steve and Jack need to show up as some stylists or something.. I think that would be awesome
