Apatow Producing Rudd’s Next Film
Judd Apatow has been relatively quiet in the year following last summer’s Funny People promotion. Now we have news that he will be producing a new film starring Paul Rudd, set to begin filming in the fall.
MTV News caught up with Apatow on the red carpet of Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People gala. Apatow revealed that the new project comes from Rudd’s frequent collaborators Role Models director David Wain and Ken Marino (Role Models, Starz’ Party Down, which Rudd is an executive producer and co-creator of.) Apatow wouldn’t reveal much else, besides that details on the film would be announced soon.
This is an exciting pairing of Rudd’s finest creative teams. We’ve seen gradual integrating of the two camps with the casts of Role Models, I Love You Man, Party Down and Wainy Days, but this is the first time we’ve seen Apatow directly involved with Wain & Co.
Also on Apatow’s plate are the early stages of writing his next film. His Twitter page says he began writing in late April. One tweet suggested Paul Rudd was helping him with ideas, but his MTV interview suggests that may have been for the Wain film, not Apatow’s next writing project.
Next up for Judd Apatow is producing an untitled Kristen Wiig bridesmaid comedy, whose supporting cast includes Rose Byrne (Get Him to the Greek), Ellie Kemper (The Office), Maya Rudolph (SNL) and rumored to also star Jon Hamm (Mad Men) and Dianne Wiest (Dan in Real Life.)
