‘Date Night’ Quietly Heading Past $90m at the Box Office

Steve Carell
Steve Carell and Tina Fey’s adult-skewing comedy Date Night saw another small drop at the box office this weekend, and is poised to pass the $90m mark in North American theatres this week. The romantic comedy with action elements opened with a $25m weekend but has seen shallow declines each week since. The trajectory is similar to last fall’s Couples Retreat, another ensemble comedy with appeal to both men and women. Internationally, Date Night has grossed an additional $48m for a total of $134m to date.
Date Night is a comeback of sorts for Carell, who did not have any films released since 2008’s summer tentpole, Get Smart. In 2010, Carell also has two more summer films set for release. The animated Despicable Me opens on July 9th and the live-action Dinner for Schmucks follows on July 23.

I certainly contributed to those box office results
Love Carell!
I was too, this was a good movie. Its a bummer he’s leaving The Office but heres an idea for his replacement…Nigel Wick. It will be different but it will be a boss we are familiar with, and Craig Ferguson is just as funny as Carell, I just saw him in Chicago a few weeks ago.
Is Paul Rudd a member of The Frat Pack now?
Interesting what can be found around these parts… haha
$95 million now
