‘Greek’, ‘Schmucks’ Previews a Study in Contrasts
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, Frat fans, but Universal has released the first five minutes of Get Him to the Greek on FunnyOrDie and it did not register more than one or two chuckles. No laughs. First five minutes. As something intended to get you interested in the film.
The last time I remember a film leading with the “first five minutes” was another Apatow production, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story. And we all know how well that preview “helped” the box office of that one (though I still think Walk Hard is an amazing film).
The preview borrows most of the same “backstory through pop culture clips” techniques that worked so well for Tropic Thunder. It doesn’t really work here though there is a “cameo” by a Frat Pack star (we won’t spoil who…). So, maybe you want to watch, maybe you don’t. I still intend to catch Get Him to the Greek when it opens this weekend but my expectations have been lowered severely.
Faring better, much much better, is a new trailer for July’s Dinner for Schmucks. This one uses effective editing to tell the story but keep the energy up and letting the jokes fly.

Wait… who is the cameo? Cuz isn’t the other major star in there basically the third male lead?
I did’nt think it was that bad, but i think the laughs will come more when jonah hill comes into it. I think they’re just trying to set it up and get all the boring backstory out the way early.
I dnno, I laughed, not hysterically. It’s very British humour which is odd for Apatow or even Frat Pack. The best joke for me was Rose Byrne saying “I like how he says my name” and Brand just replies with “Jackie…”, to me that was ridiculous and it worked.
Rick, same Frat Pack actor who had a “cameo” in Funny People.
My bad. The cameo is in the Greek footage.
please..who is the cameo?
Cant wait to see Schmucks!! Mousterpiece!
what it is really funny
OH
Shit, now I got you. THAT guy.
