The World Needs More Pee-wee
Several internet reports this week have reported an unlikely team in Judd Apatow and the one and only Pee-wee Herman (aka Paul Reubens). The pair are reportedly working on a possible return for Pee-wee to the big screen.
According to E! online, Apatow became interested in the project after attending one of Reubens recent live Pee-wee shows. And as Apatow has stated, “Let’s face it, the world needs more Pee-wee Herman”. Hard to argue with that! Reubens is also a fan of Apatow’s style of “comedy with emotion and heart”.
A couple questions come to mind with this possible pair. What type of audience would the new project be aimed at? Of course Pee-wee’s television roots are much more child and family friendly, and as we all know, Apatow’s projects are decidedly more adult.
Another question that comes to mind, what kind of a dream cast could be put together for this project? Could we be seeing Seth Rogen or Paul Rudd and Pee-wee’s potential friends or foes? What about the Reno 911 crew? Reubens has appeared as characters in episodes of Reno, as well as their movie.
This project could go in several interesting directions, and would be very interesting what kind of spin Apatow could put on a classic character.

Thanks for posting, Beth. I’m not the biggest Pee Wee fan but loved Danny Elfman’s scoresnfor the first two films.
I would love to see the Reno cast in this!
