Mashup Mixes Jefferson Airplane with Tenacious D

For those who view mashups as an artistic statement rather than act of piracy, you’ll definitely want to head over to Mashuptown.com and download the new incredible mashup featuring Tenacious D and the Jefferson Airplane.

Entitled “Love Exploder,” the track mixes the D’s Pick of Destiny hit “Master Exploder” with the Jefferson Airplane’s psychedelic classic, “Somebody to Love.” As is typical of many mashups, “Love Exploder” is an “A-B” mashup with the music from one song and the vocals from another. In this case, the vocals are primarily handled by Jack Black and Kyle Gass from Tenacious D, though the “somebody to love” refrain is present as well. It’s a great mashup well-worth listening to.

In a strange coincidence, the song was featured prominently in one of Jack Black’s earliest movies, the early Frat Pack entry The Cable Guy. It actually is one of the best scenes in the movie, and features some excellent visuals from director Ben Stiller and a fearless performance from star Jim Carrey.
