Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Ain’t it Cool News has a detailed report from The Other Guys panel at Comic-Con. There’s no earth-shattering info about the action comedy opening in two week (though if you are an Eva Mendes fan it is required reading). But, writer-director Adam McKay did drop a bomb about the future of Anchorman 2.

McKay was asked about Anchorman 2 and said it was not to be, but maybe in another year and a half or two years they’ll try again. The reason for the wait is due to the actors’ busy schedules.

Well, there you go Frat fans.

When you have a couple of guys like Rudd and Carell with red-hot careers you can’t keep them waiting forever. And clearly Paramount isn’t willing to budge on on the budget for the film. So, let McKay and Will Ferrell make another film, allow the drumbeat and fan interest to continue, and let’s look at it again in a couple years. Okay, I guess this seems… reasonable?

But won’t everyone be even MORE excited about this in 2 years? Yes? No?

This is actually more positive than the last thing I read on this subject. McKay said they had given up completely or something like that. There’s still hope!
