I love Paul Rudd but even he could not save this movie for me. It was just not that funny. Given the cast, there is no excuse for missing the mark...but it did.

The good news is that I saw it on a Monday after work and there were plenty of people in the theater and some of them seemed to really be enjoying DFS. I went with two friends and one loved it and the other hated it, which is about right given the 50% approval rating at Rotten Tomatoes.

So maybe it will find an audience? Or maybe not. I just know that I cannot recommend it.

@Kevin, disagree completely sir, it's easily one of my favourite comedies. I was excited when I heard about the remake due to my love of JAy, Steve and PAul but sadly everything I've seen so far looks disappointing.

The best scene I thought of the whole movie (other than Barry reading Thurmans mind) was when Barry tried to bandage the brunch for Tim. It was hilarious when the napkin was passed around with "I AM WET" written on it. I hope to see more of ZG and Steve Carell together. Also to touch back on an older post, what about Danny McBride as the skipper in Gilligans Island? His temper would be perfect.

The French film is good/funny but hardly worth the pedestal you're putting it on.

I can't bring myself to see this one, the French film is too much of a classic, and the best part of it is you never get to see the dinner, it's only alluded to. This just doesn't look good.

I loved the movie! Steve Carell and ZG really carried the movie and it was awesome to watch their rivalry. Pauls character wasn't as good as some of his in the past but all in all it was a good movie.

This movie was much better than my expectations.
All the supporting cast had really great roles, and rememberable lines.
The two stars were funny, still sticking a bit to what they normally do though.
Overall great film. Clement certainly was a scene stealer.

I'd like to point out that this was the first major frat pack film to be PG13 in a while and I feel they really benefited from that. Recently, their films have been forced R's, but this did really well for the humor it was using.
