Will Ferrell to star in Spanish Film?
According to The Wrap, Will Ferrell has signed on to star in a Spanish-Language film entitled Casa de mi padre, which translates to House of my Father.
The film is reportedly completely in Spanish and will contain English subtitles.
There currently are no plot details available, but casting has started.
Will Ferrell is said to be producing through his company Gary Sanchez Productions, where the project is in early development. There currently isn’t a director attached, but it is thought to be one of Ferrell’s FunnyOrDie.com friends.

Regardless, this should be an interesting choice for Ferrell and we look forward to seeing what comes out of it.
Are they going to do multiple takes/punch lines like they normally do, or are they just going to come up with the best subtitles in post?
That is a very good question.
Well, as a subtitler by trade, I guarantee you that whatever low-cost solution the studio has in Mexico or California, they will not come up with any work of genius. Very few filmmakers actually take control over the way their films are subtitled (and thus perceived in other countries), and the studios just hand them over to the lowest bidder of trained semi-dyslexic monkeys (in some cases by machines, with human post-edition), who subtitle movies and tv shows in bulk. That’s the sad state of affairs in the world of subtitling.
So unless Gary Sanchez and the studio actually oversee that process - and I’m not saying they won’t, since this is a special, unique case, where there will probably be an English script parallel to the Spanish one to work from - chances are you will be left with an insipid, neutered, most likely inaccurate, translation.
