Wilson vs. Ferrell

Well, clearly, this isn’t a fair fight at least as far as the box office returns are concerned. But with two Frat Pack stars having new films opening on the same weekend it does sort of create a choice for some moviegoers.

Luke Wilson stars in Middle Men, a drama with comedic elements about the early says of selling pornography on the internet. The indie film from director George Gallo is opening in about 250 theatres this weekend, with a possible wider bow later in the month. I know that the film has been heavily promoted in the SF Bay Area and the film is playing at a number of theatres here, so depending on your city it might not be overly difficult to seek out this film.

You learn more about the film and look up showtimes at the official Middle Men website.

Of course the big release this weekend is Will Ferrell’s latest comedy spectacle, The Other Guys. Ferrell’s track record with director Adam McKay is impeccable and The Other Guys is getting strong reviews. With an all-star cast it sure seems to be a sure-fire summer movie extravaganza.  This is a film that doesn’t need hardcore fan support.

Personally, I’m much more looking forward to Middle Men. But maybe because I’m rooting for a Luke Wilson comeback and this film has the potential to at least be a modest cult hit. But that’s me.

So, with that said, I’m curious… which film are you looking forward to more? Which film will get your hard-earned dollars for admission?
