ANOTHER Female-Centric Project from Judd Apatow
Deadline Hollywood broke the story that Judd Apatow will be back into the TV game after a decade focusing on feature films. The Freaks and Geeks and Undeclared vet will be producing a pilot for HBO based on a script from Lena Dunham. Dunham brings indie credibility after winning the top prize at SxSW with Tiny Furniture and will also star, direct, and produce the pilot.

Judd Apatow
The series is “about the assorted humiliations and rare triumphs of a group of girls in their early 20’s” and may feature autobiographic elements from Dunham’s life. Apatow is an executive producer for HBO’s Funny or Die Presents spinoff series, but it’s expected that Apatow will have a more direct hand in this project.
After years of bad press regarding underwritten female roles in projects such as Knocked Up and Superbad, Apatow now seems almost to be over-compensating. He has Kristen Wiig’s Bridesmaids coming to the big screen next year as well as Business Trip starring Leslie Mann in pre-production. Wanderlust hardly seems like “a film for guys” either. I guess I’ll just have to rush out to get Get Him to the Greek when it hits store shelves this fall.

BIG NEWS!
I listened to a podcast entitled “WTF with Marc Maron.” Well Marc was interviewing Judd in his writing workshop and he got one key thing out of Judd, Paul Rudd will be in his next Director/Writer feature. This is pretty great news!
