‘Your Highness’ Photos are All Kinds of Awesome

Danny McBride
There was a panel at New York Comic Con for David Gordon Green’s upcoming comedy Your Highness, with some significant details being made available for the first time. The film is set for release in Spring 2011 and stars Danny McBride (also writer), James Franco, Natalie Portman, Zooey Deschanel, and Justin Theroux.
According to the report at Cinematical, the film is set in Medieval times but as with Year One is hardly historically accurate. At one point McBride’s character wears a powdered wig, for example. It does seem that the mantra was to go for funny over accurate, with McBride saying ”We do kind of pride ourselves on the historical inaccuracies.” In fact, the filmmakers were inspired by earlier fantasy films. McBride said that he and Green were “really passionate about those early ’80s sort of fantasy films like ‘Krull’ and ‘Deathstalker’ and ‘Conan the Barbarian. Those are films that we grew up on and loved, and we just really wanted to make a film like that. Not a spoof of one of those movies, but really just make one of those films, so that’s what this was.”
The Comic Con panel also touched on creature effects, the genesis of the film, and Green’s increasing move to the mainstream after Pineapple Express.

I think the big news coming out of the New York Comic Con is this interview with Justin Theroux:

But that’s just me…
I was on the fence about posting, just because of all the stop-and-start sequel updates this summer. But since this as close to official as we’ll be getting for a while, might as well post it
