After months without a good film release to get excited about, we now have two highly anticipated films arriving on the same day. On November 5th, both Megamind and Due Date will be arriving in North American theatres with wide releases.

Megamind is the latest Dreamworks Animation release, starring the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jonah Hill, David Cross, Justin Theroux, and Brad Pitt. The film is produced by Ben Stiller, who also has a small role for himself and his kids in the film as well.

Due Date is Todd Phillips’ follow-up to The Hangover, and the film stars two actors who are red-hot: Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. ¬†Michelle Monaghan and Jamie Foxx also star.¬†Ironically, Downey was initially tapped to play Ferrell’s role in Megamind, back when the project was titled Oobermind.

With Due Date carrying an R-rating, the choice for families is clear. But what about adults? Do you want to see an animated film with pop culture references to other superhero films (Superman, et. al.), and high-profile voice talent? Or, do you want to see the raunchy road movie that also features cameos from Danny McBride, Juliette Lewis and Todd Phillips himself (the later two are supposedly playing the same characters as they played in Old School).

So, which film are you going to see on November 5th?

What’s worse is that 127 Hours (with James Franco) comes out on the same day.

OOOH the choices are killing me…but yeah I’d probably see Due Date before anything else.

If only they offered a two (or three) for the price of one special.

I’m cool with waiting to catch Megamind when it’s on HBO.
Hopefully I’ll be able to catch Due Date next weekend. Haven’t made it out to the theater this year much.

Didnt Borat and Flushed Away open the same weekend and Borat, a VERY R rated comedy still was #1?

If the reviews are positive, I’ll see both.

A few months without a good film release is right on. Although that stretch was broken for me this past week when I caught a screening of Steve Carell’s Crazy, Stupid, Love. I thought it was pretty good.

I almost put in a note about 127 Hours. It’s only a very limited release on November 5th, so I didn’t think it germane for the poll (plus, 127 Hours isn’t a comedy, or so I’ve heard).

127 Hours is gonna b great! But this is thefratpack.com! I’m gonna see Due Date though. Megamind is in 3D so I’ll wait for the blu-ray release date to rent it.

I caught 127 Hours at the London film fest. Very good performance by James Franco!

Hope everyone is well. It has been ages.
