When the 3 most influential men in comedy from the past 20 years gather together, it’s not out of the question to ponder the possibilities. Following last weekend’s tweets from Jim Carrey, Judd Apatow and Ben Stiller about recording a new DVD commentary for The Cable Guy, it appears the boys had dinner together on Friday night. Carrey tweeted this photo of the gang last night. Quipping on Carrey’s tux, Stiller responded, “Jim was actually seating Judd and I.”

In reality, it was probably just 3 old friends having fun. All three are currently in New York filming various projects (Stiller for Tower Heist, Carrey for Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Apatow for an HBO pilot starring Lena Dunham.) Any truthfully fruitful “meeting of the minds” probably would be tweeted to million of fans. But because we’re a blog for nerds fans, let’s connect the dots between the trio.

Ten years after collaborating on The Cable Guy, Stiller and Carrey were set to reunite for Used Guys, which fell apart at Fox in 2006 a week before shooting. In early 2009, when Stiller’s Red Hour Films moved to 20th Century Fox, Nikki Finke revealed one of the projects in development was… Used Guys. All’s been quiet since, but let’s hope these three can come up with a new project we can tweet about.

Yes, that was a shameless plug for you to follow us on our new Twitter page. So, do it. Do it. Just do it.
