duedate-posterTodd Phillips continues with the right formula in Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr and Zach Galfininakis.

A lot of people loved The Hangover. A lot of people wondered how Todd Phillips would respond, and yes there is a sequel underway, but before that he showed he could deliver another hit comedy outside of the drunken escapade serious.

Due Date stars Robert Downey Jr (Tropic Thunder) as a serious business man with anger management issues who has to get from Atlanta to Los Angeles in three days for the birth of his child. After being kicked off a plan due to a argument with a baboon he has no way of getting to L.A. He hires the idiot played by Zach Galifinakis (The Hangover) to drive him cross country. Without spoiling too much, the two embark on a ball busting funny journey of friendship and disaster.

The film should be considered with Get Him to the Greek, The Other Guys, and Dinner for Schmucks for top film of the year on this site. It definitely makes it clear, if not already, that Todd Phillips is back to his days of Old School and Starsky and Hutch, and less of School for Scoundrels.

Not only should it be considered for best movie on this site, but several other Earmuffs when the time comes. Danny McBride who is fresh off of a the second season of Eastbound and Down and will be break out hit Your Highness should win Luke Zoolander Award for Best Frat Pack Cameo (who in my eyes should had won for Observe and Report last year.). His cameo offers one of the best laugh out loud moments of the film.

Zach Galifinakis should be considered for Ron Burgundy Award for Best Hair, and has several catch phrases to be recognized.  The film should also be considered for best musical moment for a pot enthused listening to Pink floyd.

Due Date stunk. It was a terrible movie, and that’s coming from a Frat Pack/Hangover fan.
