Emma Stone and Jonah Hill in Superbad

Contrary to earlier reports, Emma Stone will NOT be reuniting with her Superbad costar Jonah Hill for 21 Jump Street. Stone confirmed to MTV News that she would not be joining Hill and recently-announced costarĀ  Channing Tatum in the film adaptation of the popular television series.

Both 21 Jump Street and Stone’s high profile role as Gwen Stacy in Sony’s Spider-Man relaunch are scheduled to begin production in early 2011. While Sony was reported to have offered Stone roles in both projects, MTV’s report indicates that Spider-Man threw her 21 Jump Street “plans in flux.”

Stone did have the following nice comments to share about Hill and his “Bad Boys meets John Hughes” adaptation of 21 Jump Street:

“I don’t think I’m going to be part of that, but Jonah is one of my favorite people in the entire world.”
“I’m psyched to see that movie. It’s going to be great.”

Stone, coming off the surprise box office smash Easy A, will next be seen alongside Steve Carell in April’s Crazy Stupid Love.

With the female lead role up for grabs, who would you like to see opposite Hill and Tatum?

Didn’t even know those rumors existed in the first place.

  2. Kevin Crossman

As long as it is someone age-appropriate (yes, I’m looking at you Seth Rogen … for casting Cameron Diaz in Green Hornet).

Amber Heard would make a good choice.

Ugh, Channing Tatum is gonna be in 21 Jump Street? I’m out, I think Jonah is great, but Tatum’s awful acting is just too much.
