Michael Cera and ‘Scott Pilgrim’ Win Satellite Awards

Michael Cera
In what has to be considered an upset, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World was named Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) at the 15th Annual Satellite Awards, presented by the International Press Academy this evening. Additionally, the film’s star, Michael Cera, was named Best Actor (Comedy or Musical). The film was well-reviewed by was only a mediocre player at the box office last August. But the film’s many advocates, our site included, surely must be pleased.
Scott Pilgrim beat a number of other films for the award, including Cyrus, The Other Guys, and Oscar contender The Kids are Alright. Cera beat Steve Carell in Dinner for Schmucks and John C. Reilly from Cyrus, among others.

Scott Pilgrim deserved the Golden Globe slots wasted on The Tourist
Hmm, Jesse Eisenberg also won Best Actor in the Drama category. Maybe it was a case of Cera being confused for Eisenberg yet again.
