Brie Larson Joins Jonah Hill in ‘21 Jump Street’ Film

Bad news for fans of Emma Stone, who was previously rumored to reunite with her Superbad costar Jonah Hill in the 21 Jump Street film. Apparently, Stone’s busy schedule is not allowing her to participate in the remake of the late 80’s series. Instead, Brie Larson (United States of Tara) is joining the cast as Molly, the female lead and Hill’s romantic interest.
Larson was last seen on the big screen in a small but impressive scene in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The actress also had a small role opposite Ben Stiller in Greenberg. Larson is excellent on Showtime’s Tara, and I think would do a great job of playing an undercover cop infiltrating a high school. The film is expected to start filming later this spring. Channing Tatum and Ice Cube are also starring in the film that was cowritten by Hill. Johnny Depp has expressed interest in a cameo.
