Missed Will Ferrell’s ‘Office Debut?’ Watch it Now
Will Ferrell debuted his role as Deangelo Vickers, Michael Scott’s replacement on The Office. Carell and Ferrell fit together perfectly, with their chemistry in full effect beginning from the opening scene. This is the first of 4 episodes Ferrell will appear on, including one after Carell’s departure. Watch the full episode now, courtesy of Hulu.com

I have been very opposed to “big” guest stars on The Office (where Tim Meadow’s S2 guest spot being the “limit” of how famous the guest should be). That said, I think Kathy Bates has blended in well and the way they handled Jack Black’s cameo a couple seasons ago was fine.
Tim Olyphant was more distracting than useful, and I didn’t love Ricky Gervais’ cameo either. So, I was concerned about Ferrell’s role.
Gotta say though… maybe I’m just a Ferrell or Frat Pack fanboy, but initial reaction was that I really liked what Ferrell brought to the role and overall the appearance was not “distracting” except for the “Sunshine State” joke that was a ripoff from Old School. So, so far… so good.
I feel the same Kevin. Ferrell played a very real character. I think he fit in quite well.
I really liked him… His character was a different kind of awkward than the normal Office character… as in, he made things awkward because he was threatening.
Reminded me of when Idris Elba was on. They are similar characters but Idris was much more threatening and “no-nonsense” driven where Will is a mix of both Michael Scott and Idris’ character Charles. He was byfar my favorite guest because of his relationship with Jim and passion for Dwight. Hell bring Charles back and make him the full time boss. In my opinion the show was at its strongest mid to the end of season five then nose-dived in season six.
