Judd Apatow’s next directorial effort, the Knocked Up spin-off starring Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann, will now open in December 2012, six months after its original June 1st scheduled opening.

DeadlineHollywood reports that the untitled comedy has swapped release dates with Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman. There are currently two Snow White films being released next year, with the rival Brothers Grimm: Snow White from Relativity Media, starring Julia Roberts, currently opens June 29th. Universal, not wanting to be second out of the gate, has pushed their big version with Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth up by half a year to the June 1st date that had originally been reserved for Apatow’s film.

While that early June date has been a successful launching point for comedies like Knocked Up, The Hangover, Get Him to the Greek and The Break-Up, a December release date would put Apatow’s film in awards season and the profitable Holiday season market. Although Paul Rudd’s How Do You Know struggled in that spot last winter, he and Universal had a runaway hit with Role Models two years earlier in that same period.

The Untitled Knocked Up Sequel is scheduled to begin filming in early June.

Do we have anymore details about the cast? Are Seth Rogen & Katie Heigl making an appearance? How about Seth’s former roommates?

Jason Segel should have a big role in this, since Deb was somewhat attracted to him. It would be a good conflict and we know Rudd and Segel work wonders together.
