Bateman to Join Vaughn’s ‘Insane Laws’
Deadline reports that Jason Bateman is close to joining Vince Vaughn in Universal’s The Insane Laws. Bateman and Vaughn would play lifelong friends whose relationship is strained once their kids fall in love while in college, and the daughter (of Vaughn’s character) becomes pregnant. The project will be the directorial debut of screenwriter Jeremy Garelick, who wrote The Break-Up which featured both actors, in addition to doing an uncredited rewrite of The Hangover with Todd Phillips.
This would be the 5th project to feature Vaughn and Bateman, who previously co-starred in Starsky and Hutch, Dodgeball, The Break-Up and Couples Retreat. This major co-headlining role for Bateman would be his first major project annoucement ahead of his potentially massive summer, with starring roles in July’s Horrible Bosses and August’s The Change-Up. Deadline reports that both actors have just completed a table-read of the script, with the studio hoping to begin production this fall. Vaughn, most recently seen in January’s The Dilemma, is currently filming a supporting role in the all-star gambling drama Lay the Favorite, opposite Bruce Willis, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Rebecca Hall and Justin Timberlake.

Vaughn needs to get back into the circle, having bateman is great but he needs another frat pack vet in his film hell grab luke wilson give him a cameo, or paul rudd anyone but get someone please
This sounds like a good age-appropriate film for Vaughn, who I really liked in Couples Retreat. It also sounds like a return to form for Vaughn after the very very very un-funny Dilemma.
First time director who has previously worked closely with Vaughn. Same template as Couples Retreat.
Uncredited rewrite? He wrote The Hangover as we know it with Todd, and they got no credit!
But this sounds awesome! Can’t wait!
