Paul Rudd to Star as Man Who Freezes People
The Washington Post confirmed that Paul Rudd will star in an upcoming film directed by noted documentary filmmaker Errol Morris. Morris has won Academy Awards for his documentary work, and also directed commercials such as Apple’s famous Switch ads (including Will Ferrell’s Santa spoofs), but to date has not directed a feature film. The concept is based on a This American Life story.
Specifically, Rudd will play Bob Nelson, a California TV repairman-turned-cryonics-enthusiast who decides to pursue his obsession: the freezing of humans for the purpose of future resurrection. John DeFore, a journalist who frequently contributes to the Washington Post, confirmed Rudd’s casting with Morris while interviewing the filmmaker for a Post story on his upcoming documentary, “Tabloid.” DeFore shared said scoop with Celebritology.

Bob Nelson wrote We Froze the First Man in 1969, the basis of the This American Life story. You can read more about Nelson online. As for Rudd, this seems like a mix of comedy and drama in the kind of role that Greg Kinnear has made a career out of. With this being Morris’ first feature, it’s sure to be the subject of a great deal of talk.
