New York Magazine reports that Jonah Hill may be joining Ben Stiller and Vince Vaughn in Neighborhood Watch. However, the article states Hill’s salary may be a sticking point in the deal. Apparently the trailer for Hill’s upcoming Brad Pitt drama Moneyball is testing through the roof, so his reps must be feeling some momentum. The $70 million budgeted Neighborhood Watch already has a large fortune being paid for Stiller and Vaughn so its unclear whether these talks will yield successful results.

This would be Hill’s first full collaboration with Ben Stiller since his brief cameo in Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian. The project would also put Hill in place with director Akiva Schaffer of The Lonely Island; the two were previously scheduled to work together on the long-delayed Adventurer’s Handbook, which was to star Hill (who co-wrote the script), Jason Segel and Jason Schwartzman. Neighborhood Watch would also bring Hill back together with his real-life pals Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg who drafted the current version of the screenplay.

Updated (08/23/2011):

Deadline is reporting that Hill has officially joined the cast.

Is it me or doesn’t skinny Jonah Hill look a lot like Steve Carell?

Hey, Jonah! You shouldn’t have lost all that weight. Nobody wants to see Lance Armstrong do comedy.

I think a skinny Jonah + “fro” hair would seem a lot more like the old Jonah. The cropped hair also makes him look like a completely different person.

Regarding the movie, nice to see official confirmation from Jonah’s Twitter account today that he’s officially in the movie. Awesome!
