Paul Rudd will play a political opponent opposite Amy Poehler on Parks and Recreation, according to a report from Vulture. Rudd will join the previously announced Kathryn Hahn (Step Brothers) as a guest during an election story arc for Poehler’s character, Leslie Knope.  While Hahn is slated for several episodes Rudd may or may not be appearing in multiple episodes.

The election episodes are expected to air in the next couple months, likely timed perfectly as a promotional vehicle for Rudd’s upcoming movie Wanderlust.

In related news, season 2 series regular Megan Mullally indicated that a Party Down film is currently being written by series co-creator John Enbom. The two-season Starz series starred Adam Scott (now currently seen on Parks and Recreation), Martin Starr, Ken Marino,  Lizzy Caplan, and Jane Lynch (season one only). The series was cocreated and produced by Paul Rudd who did not appear due to scheduling conflicts.
