This is The End

The poster and red-band preview trailer were released today for This Is The End, the newly retitled feature production based on the 2007 short film Jay and Seth vs. The Apocalypse. ┬áThe film leads are James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, and Craig Robinson. Michael Cera only gets a “with…” billing, though as Danny McBride points out in the trailer, “guess if Michael Cera is gone it’s not a total loss.”

The film appears to be every bit the sausage-fest it appeared to be, though at least the promo materials don’t try to hide the fact. Indeed the materials seem to play to the strengths with some raunchy material that most definitely earns the red-band trailer rating. And did we mention that every single person seems to be killing it here? Especially Danny McBride…

I find it impossible to believe that this will be better than Anchorman 2, yet from what we’ve seen so far the bar is definitely a high one to clear.

As previews go, the footage here tells the basic story and provides some laughs, but we don’t see any of the cameos the film is likely filled with. There’s only a mention of Cera, Jason Segel, and David Krumholtz, though at least Emma Watson is seen briefly. But no footage of others like people like Paul Rudd, Martin Starr, Aziz Ansari, and Rhianna seen in on location photos.

This Is The End is written and direct by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg and is scheduled to open on June 20, 2013.

If the world doesn’t end this Friday.
