Fox Greenlights ‘Night at the Museum 3′ with Ben Stiller and Director Shawn Levy
Fox announced that they will be making Night at the Museum 3 with series stalwarts Ben Stiller and director Shawn Levy, with the film scheduled for release on December 24, 2014. The Coming Soon article does not provide any other details about the film, which follows Night at the Museum (2006) and Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009). The first film was set in New York and the second in Washington D.C. so if the typical pattern for sequels emerges put your bets on a foreign location such as Paris or London.
No other cast members have been announced, but given the history from the two films look for Stiller to call in favors to obtain the best comedic talent available. My guess is to look for Jack Black…
The announcement follows two straight under-performers for Stiller, coming off Tower Heist and The Watch. Though, the third time to the franchise well was not nearly as lucrative or critically received the last time Stiller made a third film in a series with Little Fockers. Levy has the highly anticipated The Internship with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn this summer.
