Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson in The Internship

The trailer for the upcoming Vince Vaughn / Owen Wilson workplace comedy The Internship was released. The film is primarily set at Google, so of course the trailer is served by YouTube. The trailer provides a basic outline for the film without spoiling an anticipated Frat Pack cameo, though Rose Bryne is briefly seen as a romantic interest for Owen Wilson’s character.

Definitely not much in the way of edgy material here, though it’s expected the film will come in at PG-13 rather than the R rating for the duo’s previous film, Wedding Crashers.

Billy (Vaughn) and Nick (Wilson) are salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world. Trying to prove they are not obsolete, they defy the odds by talking their way into a coveted internship at Google, along with a battalion of brilliant college students. But, gaining entrance to this utopia is only half the battle. Now they must compete with a group of the nation’s most elite, tech-savvy geniuses to prove that necessity really is the mother of re-invention.

The trailer looks awesome, maybe more of the dynamic chemistry between Owen and Vince and the feelings of the good old Frat Pack days in 2003, but i’m very enthusiastic about watching it..

Looks like Owen has an “Old School” Luke problem - this trailer could be called “the varying styles and lengths of Owen Wilson’s hair.” Looks pretty funny, though.

  3. Toby

Sorry for asking, but what problem did Luke have in Old School again?

The lack of “edgy” humor is definitely what separates this trailer from the Wedding Crashers trailer. Vince & Owen definitely seem comfortable, and it looks decent enough. But I can’t it gives a “must see” first impression.

Toby: Not really that noticeable at first glance, but if you listen to the commentary, they comment on the fact that Luke’s hair is not really consistent throughout the shoot. Owen’s hair is longer, though, so… more noticeable.

The fact that we’re focused on Owen’s hair is not a good sign.

I found some of the footage funny. Some of it pedestrian. That said, for some reason I’ve found Owen’s “trying to be hip” routine in Hall Pass to be something I’ve enjoyed more and more as I’ve seen the film again on cable. So, perhaps with better material it can work in The Internship.

Too many dumb references to other movies. These guys know what the Hunger Games and Terminator are, but not X-Men?

I did laugh at Vince’s “You get high?” but otherwise this looks pretty lame.
