John C. Reilly Rumored to be Filming ‘Anchorman 2′ Cameo Today
It is very likely that John C. Reilly is filming a cameo in the Anchorman sequel today, according to bits and pieces gleaned by Bleeding Cool. The website has uncovered a casting-call sheet for someone to act as a double for John C. Reilly.
Do you look like John C. Reilly? We’re seeking a caucasian male, 6’2″, any age. THIS SHOOTS TOMORROW, FEB 28th. Please submit your stats and 3 photos to TeachMan2ATL@gmail.com with the subject line JOHNNY DOUBLE.
Entertainment Weekly confirmed that the casting call is real, though the film’s representatives attempted to deflect the obvious conclusion by stating “We were looking for a stand-in for lighting purposes who looks like John C. Reilly. We always demand that every stand-in looks like John C. Reilly.”
With Anchorman 2 starting to film, there is intense speculation about the cast. Given that the first film featured a host of cameos, plus director Adam McKay’s statement about putting together a “murderer’s row of the best day players ever“, the speculation about casting is running wild. The emphasis on musical elements in the film would also indicate Reilly is a good fit, plus his recent string of costarring roles opposite Anchorman star Will Ferrell. Considering that Reilly was intended to be cast in the first Anchorman film, only to drop due to scheduling conflicts, it’s been an assumed given here in Fratville that Reilly will be in the film. Nice to see nearly positive speculation.
