The Hangover Part III

For the “epic conclusion to the Wolfpack trilogy” the plot this time mines new ground, a thankful detail provided by the The Hangover Part III’s full trailer released this week. Some of us were unmercifully disappointed by the second film’s virtual retread of a plot, despite excellent filmmaking and plenty of laughs. So, needless to say we’re real pleased to see that the new film doesn’t rely on the “wake up and retrace our steps” plot of the first two films.

Writer-Director Todd Phillips seems to be going big for the highly anticipated third film, set for release on May 24. The plot involves the Wolfpack trio of Phil, Stu, and Alan (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, Zach Galifianakis) having to find Mr. Chow (Ken Jeong) who stole $21 million from a character played by John Goodman. Doug (Justin Bartha), naturally, is kept out of pocket from the rest of his friends, this time as “insurance” and motivation for the others to find Chow.

There’s great stuff in the trailer, especially Chow’s line “I love cocaine!” And there is the obligatory reveal that red-hot Melissa McCarthy appears (as a potential love-interest for Alan?). The film looks as outgrageous as ever and the action components bode well for a film opening during summer movie season.
